Description

Digitalization is characterized by informatic systems. New data-based technologies such as artificial intelligence are changing the way we work and live at an ever faster pace. In order to act confidently in these living environments, students need to develop an understanding of the technologies and how they work. That is why more and more countries in Europe (and Germany) are integrating computer science into their curricula. At the same time, there is a shortage of well-trained computer science teachers almost everywhere.

Therefore, the following questions arise for politics, science and of course the teachers themselves: What does good / contemporary computer science teaching have to look like in order to inspire both students* and teachers? Can data and AI literacy concepts be an opportunity for more attractive computer science teaching? How can playful, explorative and self-effective teaching concepts be implemented in everyday school life? What does this mean for teacher training in Germany and Europe? Which educational concepts for data literacy and competencies for artificial intelligence need to be incorporated into teacher and school education? How can new teacher training and teaching materials ensure that these future competencies are democratized and that students in Europe have equal access to them through general school education? How can the EU support national policies?

In this panel, these and other questions will be discussed in a research- and practice-oriented way.
