Up-and-coming – Viktoriya Olari is honored as AI Newcomer 2023

On April 26, Viktoriya Olari, as one of ten young talents in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), was honored for her research and engagement. With her focus on computer science didactics, AI and data competencies, she has been enriching the work in the TrainDL project for two years.

Every year, the transdisciplinary research convention KI-Camp honors young researchers in the field of AI: This time, one of the ten recipients is a researcher from the TrainDL project. For Viktoriya Olari, it is important to use her research to make AI technologies and data science more tangible for students and thereby prepare them for an everyday life that will be increasingly shaped by AI and data in the future. On the day of the AI Newcomer Awards, for example, she presented her research on "AI Playgrounds": with the help of such and other innovative ideas, she wants to teach students how to deal with modern technologies in an ethical, critical – and of course creative – way.

In the TrainDL project, she is therefore dedicated to developing activities that teachers can implement in the classroom to give their students a better understanding of data and AI. As part of the TrainDL team at Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), she is developing activities and testing them in numerous workshops with teachers in order to continuously develop them further.

A German press release from FU Berlin on her award can be found here. If you want to learn more about what Viktoriya Olari and other researchers are accomplishing in the TrainDL project, feel free to explore the published news or materials!
