Findings and challenges – the report on the first project phase

The first project phase has been completed: In a report, the TrainDL team of Freie Universität Berlin now summarizes the implemented workshops as well as challenges and findings.

In the European TrainDL project, educational concepts for data literacy and competencies for AI are to be developed in order to anchor them in teacher and school education. But how exactly does this work?

The project is divided into three phases with different target groups. While in the first phase computer science teachers participated in the workshops, the next workshops will also test learning activities with teachers of STEAM subjects as well as elementary school teachers. The TrainDL team evaluates each workshop phase and applies the findings to the next phases. In this way, the workshops will be continuously improved and adapted to the teachers' feedback.

After the completion of the three phases, the results are then processed and communicated to educational policy makers and the general public. In this way, TrainDL promotes the integration of AI and data skills into teacher and school education - EU-wide and sustainably.

In a report, Prof. Dr. Ralf Romeike, Viktoriya Olari and Till Zoppke from Freie Universität Berlin first summarize the first phase: A total of 144 computer science teachers participated in the seven workshops of the first phase and engaged in analog and digital learning activities. More about the different methods and formats as well as challenges and findings can now be read in the current version of the report.
