Supplementary teacher training in Druskininkai, Lithuania

On December 9, 2022, a teacher training with primary school teachers on Artificial Intelligence took place at the Saulės Progymnasium in Druskininkai, Lithuania. A year ago, the TrainDL team at the Vilnius University, Prof. Valentina Dagienė, Ph.D. student Vaida Masiulionytė-Dagienė, as well as Viktoriya Olari from the Berlin Freie Universität Berlin, presented the topic of AI to teachers and demonstrated activities that could be used to teach AI skills to pupils. A year later, the team and 11 participants reconvened to discuss whether the teachers had tried to implement the presented activities and what difficulties they had faced. The main feedback from the teachers was that they thought the topic was relevant, but the activities presented were too difficult for young children.

In line with the given insights, simpler and shorter activities involving data were presented during this seminar. The teachers were very interested and requested another workshop to get to know the proposed activities better.
