TrainDL in October 2022: Consortial Meeting and Steering Committee Meeting in Vienna

On October 12th and 13th, 2022, the consortial meeting and steering committee meeting took place in Vienna, at the headquarters of the Austrian Computer Society OCG.

It is half time in the TrainDL project and therefore all steering partners from Lithuania, Austria and Germany came together to look back on the past one and a half years and to plan together the forthcoming year and a half. On the first day, the focus was on the results of the individual work packages. The in-person event proved to be successful, as it strengthened the exchange between all steering partners and made it possible to develop common ideas: How well can we measure whether teachers have learned something during Teacher Training? What do we want to achieve with the planned TrainDL-Summit? How can we teach the basics of AI and data literacy to primary school teachers with no prior knowledge of computer science so that they feel confident to integrate these topics into their lessons?

On the second day, steering partners met with public authorities in the consortial meeting. On the one hand, to present results and the status quo, but also to define common interfaces and to integrate them into the project planning. The input of the attending public authorities highlighted the importance of the personal exchange between research and policy for the sustainable success of the project.

The work-intensive two days were an important check-in to bring the various stakeholders into close alignment in terms of schedule and work mode, and also to promote the project in terms of content through numerous working workshops.

The entire consortium is looking forward to the second half.
