Invitation: Teacher training on the topic of AI and data literacy in computer science teaching.

A weekend in Heidelberg to exchange teaching experiences and to try out and develop new methods and materials. Travel costs, accommodation and meals will be covered by the TrainDL project.

>> Registration is possible until 04.10.2022 <<

Background and process:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, though not always visible, are an integral part of students' everyday lives. In this context, young people are not only the ones who are always online feeding data to the "smart" algorithms, but also the ones who actively and consciously use AI technology to be creative, to improve in different subject areas or to present themselves in the media. AI and Big Data are changing our world, and the importance of this topic for computer science education in schools is correspondingly high. But the question that arises is:
What should students know about AI and Big Data? What methods and materials can best be used to support them in their learning? These questions will be explored during a weekend workshop in Heidelbergn on Nov. 25-27, 2022. Travel costs can be covered in this context as part of the TrainDL project.

Location: ISG Hotel, Im Eichwald 19, 69126 Heidelberg, Germany
Time: Friday, 25.11. (18:00 clock) to 27.11.2022 (15:00 clock)
Travel costs covered: travel to and from the event, accommodation in double room, meals
Up to 20 participants

Registration until 04.10.2022 >>zoppke@inf.fu-berlin.de

After an exchange about own (teaching) experiences with AI and Data Literacy, current AI applications and technologies will be introduced. Inspiration for this will be provided during a visit to the exhibition "I AM AI": data will be collected with smartphones in order to analyze them afterwards. Prototypical teaching material is tried out, its suitability discussed and, if necessary, further developed. An expert has been asked to assist and to provide the round with fresh expertise. There will also be ample opportunity for exchange outside of the official program.

If interested, please email zoppke@inf.fu-berlin.de by 0410/2022 outlining why the workshop is of interest to you and what experience you have already had with AI and data literacy in your computer science classroom.

Unfortunately, participation can only be made possible for up to 20 people. The organizers will let you know shortly after the deadline who has received a place.
