Best Poster Award at KOLI 2023
After winning the Best Poster Award at INFOS 2023 for their poster "Language Models Unplugged with Grimm's Fairy Tales", the TrainDL project team now celebrated another success at KOLI Calling 2023.
Koli Calling is one of the leading international conferences dedicated to the exchange of research and practice in the field of teaching and learning as well as educational research in computer science disciplines. For the poster session on 18 November, the TrainDL team submitted the poster "Introduction of AI Literacy and Data Literacy in Computer Science Teacher Education".
In it, the authors Viktoriya Olari, Till Zoppke, Martin Reger, Evgenia Samoilova, Martin Kandlhofer, Valentina Dagienė, Ulrike Lucke and Ralf Romeike emphasize teacher education as the key to the successful introduction of AI and data literacy in schools. In addition to the project approach and method, they also write about the initial results of the workshops with teachers. Participants had to take a test before and after the events, which the researchers can now use to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the content and exercises.
The main result: the training courses were accepted as a valuable introduction and had a positive effect on the perceived competencies. However, these would need to be supplemented by further units and in-depth training. In particular, specific curricula and age-appropriate materials are needed to integrate data and AI skills into lessons.
The poster is available for download here. The paper can be downloaded here.
