Invitation: TrainDL Weekend Workshop "Bytes & Bites"
Computer science teachers are cordially invited to the weekend workshop "Bytes & Bites: Teaching AI and data skills (also) while eating".
Description
Data and machine learning are, if not always visible, an integral part of students' everyday lives. Young people are not only those who are always online and feed the intelligent algorithms with data, but also those who actively and consciously use AI technology to be creative, to play or to present themselves in the media. AI and Big Data are changing our world, and the importance of this topic for teaching computer science in schools is correspondingly high. But the question we face is:
What should students know about AI and Big Data? What methods and materials can we use to best support their learning? We want to explore these questions in a weekend workshop from November 24-26, 2023, for which we cordially invite you to the Alte Nudelfabrik in Zeitz (between Leipzig and Gera).
The pasta factory provides the domain "food" in which we develop our case studies: How do data analytics help us with healthy eating? How do we successfully design cooking boxes for different customer groups? How would ChatGPT top a pizza? To gain insights from real-world experience, we've asked an expert to give a presentation. In small groups we develop teaching materials and series plans. There will also be ample opportunity for exchange beyond the official program - on Saturday evening, we'll heat up the pizza oven and sample different toppings.

Please outline why the workshop is of interest to you and any previous experience you have had with AI and data literacy in the computer science classroom. We can allow up to 20 people to attend the workshop and will let you know shortly after the deadline if you get a spot.
