University of Potsdam

With almost 21,000 students, the University of Potsdam is the largest university in the state of Brandenburg. The main activities of the University of Potsdam, teaching and research, are strongly supported by the central administration, which comprises more than 750 employees (non-academic staff). They provide support for all necessary legal, administrative and financial matters. The UP is the only university in the state of Brandenburg that offers teacher training programmes. With the PSI project (Professionalisation: Practical School Studies), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research until 2023 as part of the Quality Offensive Teacher Education, the university aims to improve teacher training by integrating subject-specific and subject-didactic educational content in practical school placements.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences includes the Institute for Computer Science and Computational Science. The infrastructure of the faculties and universities in the greater Potsdam/Berlin area and the internationally renowned research institutions of various professions offer interdisciplinary research scope for students and teachers. Thus, the University in Potsdam covers numerous cross-sectional topics through cooperations with e.g. the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy e.V., the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Klimalagenforschung or the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems. Current research groups deal, among others, with questions of design and test methodology (Prof. Dr. Krstic) and complex multimedia application structures (Prof. Dr. Lucke).

The UP takes an evaluating role in the TrainDL project and will accompany the experiments of work packages 2 and 3. Furthermore, the UP will be responsible for the quality assurance of the project. The UP leads the work package 4 "Evaluation & Quality Control" in TrainDL.
