WebTalk: AI and Data Literacy - in Education: Empowerment without the buzz

On October 28, TrainDL featured a panel of experts discussing how AI and data literacy can be used in education for empowerment.

Most people have heard of AI, but most don't even know what artificial intelligence is and that we already deal with it in our daily lives. At the same time, a basic understanding of it is important in order to be able to participate equally in business, science and public life in the future. So how can we integrate AI and data literacy into (school) education in a sustainable and meaningful way?

This is what the Erasmus+ project TrainDL, coordinated by the Gesellschaft für Informatik, has been addressing for several months. In the WebTalk, three experts met who have each been working on these issues for many years.

Alexander Mittag from the Center for School Quality and Teacher Education Baden-Württemberg and project partner in TrainDL brought the perspective of the public sector in education policy and gave insights into curriculum development.

Sanna Reponen, who leads the development team of the online course "Elements of AI" at the University of Helsinki was able to share her experiences with AI in formal and informal learning settings.

Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid brought her perspective as head of the GI task force "AI in Education", as well as her long-standing research perspective at the interface between AI and computer science didactics.

The recording of the event is available on YouTube.
